Visit to Roseburg, Oregon and an end of April update

Lily in Stroller on Foggy Oregon Morning

To start off, we had a great trip to Oregon to visit Marlene’s parents in the beautiful city of Roseburg. We flew into Portland and drove a rental van down I-5 to Roseburg (about a 3 hour trip). It happened without incident a week ago on Saturday. Then we spent the next week relaxing and spending time with the Schaefers. Oscar and Lily love to play with Grandma and Grandpa and with Nikki (even though they are scared of her licks and kisses when she actually gets close).

When we arrived in Oregon it was humid and rainy. Then over the next few days it began to heat up quite a bit and it stopped raining. I was able to get some pretty cool photos of the fog in the morning (I posted some pictures on Flickr).

I like the shots of objects in the foggy morning.

Lily and Oscar had a good time even though they seemed to be getting over a cold that they’d had for about week. (They are seeming to be improving.)

We have another set of photos to put up on Flickr from our afternoon feeding the ducks in Roseburg with Grandpa Schaefer. Oscar and Lily had fun and we have some great pictures (Thanks to Marlene). Among others, we also have some great spiderwebs photos on a foggy, rainy Oregon morning. I’ll get those up shortly.

The trip home actually turned out to be pretty good. We were worried because Oscar developed an earache the afternoon before we were to fly home to Utah. We became quite concerned and we medicated that night with antibiotics. Then on the plane we gave him Ibuprofen and Dimetap, stuffed his ears with cotton, and had him sucking on a sippy cup during the ascent and descent of the plane. He didn’t complain of pain at all. We were expecting some serious crying and pain. That was great. What a relief and it was so much easier than the 16 hour trip that we’d seriously been considering the day before.

We are glad to be home but really enjoyed spending time with the grandparents. It is nice to be pampered when visiting grandparents.

On the Scoville side, we are looking forward to the family reunion in July. Also I begin working part time for Aspen in Loa, UT today.

**Also to update everyone on the HPPF and Marlene. The deadline came and they didn’t get the church. They have been unable to purchase it even though they had the money necessary to buy it. Some weird things have been happening and they group is now continuing to try and find a loophole and way to still purchase it before it gets demolished. It has been kind of an up-and-down issue for Marlene.

Well that’s all for now.

Love the foggy pictures, reminds me of WA. My ears have a really hard time on planes too. Glad you had a good trip.
