Weekly Update: Garage sale finds, Sod, Restless Heart, and Kid Parade

This is a replica (even to the color) of the new mountain bike that we just bought at a garage sale (a yearly neighborhood sale) for me a few weeks back. I just replaced the gear shifters and so far so good it has been pretty dreamy. I talked about it last week but the RB stairs at BYU have been fun. I am trying to get back in shape.

We just bought a bike trailer for the kids at a garage sale (a deal at $25 bucks). We then had to buy a hitch set for $40 bucks. I just got it put together yesterday and it works great. Kind of a pain to put the quick release into the tire but finally I understood it. But the kids love it. They keep saying go faster, faster than a car.

On to other news: We put sod in part of the front yard. Some parts seem to be growing, but others just look dead. How long does it take to take? We got the sod from our Bishop who redid their whole lawn. Then a few days afterward–we gathered up the scraps and put them on the side of the house. Any ideas about how to help it grow?

Oscar and Lily have been very excited to sing “I am a child of God.” They just keep singing and reciting the words. They are so cute. (We are hoping to get a copy of it at FHE tomorrow night).

Monday night (Marlene was supposed to come but she was sick) so when she couldn’t come the kids really wanted to go to “a concert.” We were scheduled to go see Restless Heart (not my first choice but surprisingly good) and the kids had a great time on the SCERA Shell outdoor amphitheater. They kept rolling down the hill and Lily kept on dancing to the music. I was surprised at the songs I knew, such as: “When She Cries” and “I’ll still be loving you.” That brought back such memories of listening to KISN 97.1 as a kid. We have the season tickets for going to the plays and the concerts at the SCERA Shell. We are looking forward to the Richard Marx concert and Kiss Me Kate and The Music Man. We already saw Ragtime (It was great and the lead male was excellent).

This week is Freedom Festival and we got the invite from our neighbors on Saturday to go to the kids parade. Oscar wanted to ride his trike. He loved it. We have some pictures that I haven’t yet put onto our Mac yet. (The mac is still getting fixed at the Gateway shopping center’s Apple Store).

We started our Fantasy Football leagues this year and our Yahoo “Badlands” League with Brandon, Nate, and friends is going again. However, we had a few extra people that wanted to learn to play so I set up another league Leamington Gang with Nate, John, and Matt Moore, Spencer, and some friends from BYU, my current ward, and Loma Linda. It should be a good fantasy football season.

This summer is turning out to be a really good one.

Serious smokers are often stuck in the dilemma offsetting priorities. They don’t know if they should give preference to quit smoking, or control it. Ideally one should stop smoking at all. Now the issue in question is how to quit smoking.
