Legal free music downloads: Ruckus.com and Spiralfrog.com
A couple of sites that I’ve recently learned about that may be of interest to you. They only work on PCs that use Windows Media Player 11 and are compatible with some devices, however, not currently with iPods, nor macs in general (disappointment).
If you are a current college student you can download movies and music from Ruckus.com. Check it out. You need to sign up with your college email address and then confirm by clicking the link in a confirmation email you receive.
If not a current college student you can download music from Spiralfrog.com, however, their catalog of music is smaller. Both services are ad-supported.
Lastly, an update on Qtrax.com. Currently you can sign up for their service, however, it only allows you to register and download the software (currently only for a PC). A mac version will be available March 18th. But you can’t download music now, they will be offering downloads shortly. Hopefully soon.
