Oscar's 1st Bike

This pictures was taken awhile back but I think it is great. We bought a bike for Oscar from Wal-Mart the week after we moved into our new house. We bought the bike but he wanted to ride his bike as soon as possible. So since we now live only about 4/5 blocks from Wal-Mart, I got to walk home with Oscar as he rode his bike. He loved it. We passed lots and lots of puncture weeds.  They don’t help your tires; but we made it home without a flat and he loved the bike.

I tried to get him to buy a Mongoose bike with pegs but he didn’t want it. He wanted the Huffy that his best friend from Provo had. We got his choice. Underneath it all, the price was better so I didn’t fight it. I said okay and he loves biking around since then. He has been riding and riding around our driveway and up-and-down the sidewalk in front of our house and the neighbors. He is so happy. I love seeing the kids happy. He is beginning to love the neighborhood and it is so great.

We’ll need to put up some photos up because we haven’t yet. But we are pretty happy with the home. We are starting to get more comfortable in the home. We have our internet, cable, and phone set up. We have been canning the pears, apples (sauce and juice), and concord grape juice. Marlene is quite the homemaker and keeper of the land.
I’ve been mowing the lawn, trimming trees and rosebushes. The lawn looks okay but not fantastic. We are getting more comfortable in the ward and enjoying some of the friendships with our new neighbors. Oscar seems to be liking his new school and is making friends with a few friends in the neighborhood (Madison and Chase). Oscar and Lily were playing last Saturday with Madison and her sisters running between our house and yard and theirs while I mowed and trimmed the yard.

We’ll get some new photos of the house soon.

We can say tonight that we’ve indeed arrived at our new home in Orem, UT. We are sleeping here tonight and we have probably 95% of our stuff moved too. We’re happy with boxes and not knowing where everything.
We could not have done this without the wonderful help from neighbors, hometeachers, and ward members that were willing to serve us and help us in this transition to a new home. Thanks to the Provo 3rd ward members. Also thanks to the Lakeview 2nd ward (our new one) for the help on the arriving end of this move.

Marlene said tonight “I’m lonely; I miss our nice and cosy house.” I agree there won’t be anything like 341 N 300 W Provo UT 84601 in our lives. We had so many wonderful friends and we loved the beautiful detail and handwork in this home. We’d have gone for it but the owners indicated they were not interested.

Also Lily and Oscar are going through a stretch to their little minds that we’ll live here now and not in Provo. We know it is going to be difficult for them and us to process the change in wards, home, and friends.
We love it. We’re excited for the adventure

Looks like we’ll be signing the loan and closing paperwork on Thursday. That was the best time when it worked for everyone. We’ll be homeowners. We are excited. We’ve been trying to pack up and get things ready for the move to Orem. Crazy, how time flys.

I wanted to post a link to the home we decided to put an offer in on Saturday. We offered and they accepted.

We are pretty happy. It is a nice starter; not as much work as the previous home we were hoping for, for which I am grateful. it has nice mature fruit trees.

What do you think? They’ve lowered the price from 270,000 to the 230,000 and we offered even lower than that and they accepted it.

The process has been so smooth; in contrast to the first home we were pursuing in our current ward boundaries.

The current owner is Royal Skousen – older brother to Mark Skousen and nephew to Cleon Skousen. My grandfather Scoville loved talking about, speculating, and discussing Cleon Skousen.

We put another offer down on a house in Orem and they accepted the offer. Now we’re in the mode to try and the get the loan hammered out to get into the house as soon as we can.

We are sad to leave the neighborhood we are in…

Growing up I loved my parents knives: Cutco Cutlery. But I didn’t think that I’d ever spend the money to buy them. Well someone from the ward referred this Cutco salesman to us to come by and give us a presentation. I thought that I’ve heard about Cutco from my brothers since they both sold Cutco. We also had a friend do the presentation to us a few years ago. I didn’t plan on buying anything well. But the freebies that he was willing to give us made it too tempting to say no. We did and I’m pretty excited to get them and use them. I think that they’ll go well in whatever house we end up buying. We’re still trying to get into something. At least we can be more patient with that.

One of the pieces that help to sell the product was the Forever Guarantee.

Well in a major turn of events for our home buying days, we have now decided against buying the condo in Pleasant Grove (due to some FHA loan hang ups due to the land being a wetland). We have, however, decided to rent a home in Provo. It is again near the North Park on 500 North in Provo.

It is a nice home with 2 bedrooms. All the utilities are included in the price of the rent. We just felt that we were being guided in this direction. Everything seems to be working in our favor for this home. We are now headed back to Loma Linda for our last month living there and getting ready for the move at the end of month to Provo.

Well the weekend has now passed and we have two bits to update you on. First off, I am fine. I am home from the hospital and walking around without too much soreness or pain. For those that aren’t aware, I went into the Loma Linda Emergency Room on Saturday morning experiencing pain in the lower right abdomen. After a few hours they performed a regular appy (removal of the appendix) as opposed to the laprioscopic appy that leaves 3 small scars instead of one large 5 inch scar. The appendix was inflammed and too big to remove with the lapriscopic (vacuum). All went well and I am feeling quite a bit better. I stayed in the hospital for about 24 more hours and then came home on Sunday afternoon. I’ve received several calls and visits from ward members and friends and we’ve felt the love of those around us. I had more soreness in my side yesterday and it is steadly decreasing and I feel okay today. I still am not supposed to lift the kids around like I normally do. You life them much more than you think until you aren’t supposed to anymore.
The second update is that of our purchase of a new condo in Pleasant Grove, Utah. We are preparing for our move to Utah in the Fall and we’ve bought the condo. It is new and located in the PGVillas (pgvillas.com). We are pretty excited about the move to Utah and the opportunity to begin working with the BYU program.
I guess the last update to offer is that Lily is walking all over the place. She no longer wants to be held. She grunts to be let down and doesn’t let up until you put her down.
We’ll talk to you later.
