A few memories from our family to you.

I took this picture at the beginning of the BYU game. AT&T was booked. I couldn’t call or email anything.

Here is a picture of the field. Cougar Nations was disappointed about not being able to beat FSU.

We didn’t come in to compete. They plainly outplayed us. We were riding high on the Oklahoma win and we were flattened. I’m still a proud BYU fan but I would have been more so if we had won.

Barry is my football idol. I love his performances. Enjoy.

We have a friend who has this photo in her living room in Lindon, Utah. We have liked it for a while now. I just found out who took the picture during the funeral of President Hinckley. His name is Boyd Ivey and apparently our friend in Lindon knows him. Anyway, here is a look at his website. You can order prints from the site, Boyd Ivey Photography.

Boyd Ivey Photo of President Hinckley

Apparently this photo was taken after the last BYU game coached by Lavell Edwards when the stadium was being named after him. Prints are in expensive. Now head over and buy them now. He also has a nice photo of President Monson available to order as well.

What a year! My Detroit Lions start off with a great 6 and 2 start and then lose just about every game after to miss the playoffs again. We need some serious change in Detroit. At times they looked so good, but stink so bad overall. Great teams this year. Pittsburgh was good until they lost a few weeks ago to Jacksonville. New England has been excellent. They have beaten both Jacksonville and San Diego to be perfect 18 and 0. Keep it rolling and the Tom Brady machine will win the Superbowl. San Diego started poorly and came around and were superb up to the loss to New England. Even with some injuries they beat the Indianapolis Colts (The Reigning Superbowl Champions).

Seahawks played well last week but got destroyed by the Packers yesterday in the blizzard and snow. Poor performances: Chicago didn’t even make the playoffs the other Superbowl contender last year. Also the Green Bay Packers played great this year. Kudos to Brett Farve and his excellent year, especially after last years commentary questioning his ability to perform at a high level in this league. He is fun to watch and Oscar took a liking to them this year and Brett Farve and would root for them when we watched some of their games. Oscar has been really interested in football this year and liking teams. He is partial to BYU Football and I won’t deny him of that. Lily also loves saying “Go BYU! Go BYU!” She says that when watching any game with any team. It is cute.

What a playoffs set of games for the New York Giants. They beat the Packers in a close game.

Go Giants and New England. Prediction: As much as I’d love to see the  Giants knock off the Patriots from getting perfection (NY’s second opportunity to do this). They played each other in the last game of the regular season and put up a great fight. So it is definitely possible for the Patriots to get beat if they lose focus. They need to come up with all they have and not get conceited or think that it is in the bag, because the Giants have beat some good teams to get where they are. Eli Manning has had a great second half to this season.

February 3rd, 2008 – SuperBowl. I love football.

This game was a great game. What a finish. This picture is of the 4th down and 18 yards that BYU needed to gain on their last drive of the game and they converted with this amazing pass to Austin Collie from Max Hall. This lead to a Harvey Unga touchdown run to win the game 17-10.

Hope that all is well. More to come on Thanksgiving and our Trip to NYC and Philadelphia.

John Beck, an excellent football player, will start this week against Philadelphia. Miami is 0-9 and aren’t doing too well but a bonus is that John Beck is starting a lot sooner than he would have if they were doing well with a different QB.

We went to the BYU cougars football game on Saturday and we loved it. Marlene and the kids came and we loved it. We had a nice time on the top row of the stadium, and actually it was great — it provided shade and also a backrest. Here is the BYU Cougars official sports site.  They won 35-16. We left in the 3rd quarter because they were up 28 to 3. The Cougars were making some great plays both on Offense and Defense.

Marlene wasn’t going to come but then we got such a great parking space next to the stadium that she couldn’t resist so she came and we had a good time. We parked about 5 spaces from the President’s parking stall at the stadium. It was part of a Y lot, but I don’t know if that applies during games – there were no signs or attendants to indicate otherwise. So we went for it and we didn’t get a ticket.

One thing that I love is the Detroit Lions. I really do. Even the last 6 years of mediocrity and sloppy play. I still love the silver and blue. I love the history with Barry Sanders. I decided to post something about them. Here are few pictures that I’ve found across the internet that let you see their great colors and Barry in action. See my previous post on Barry Sanders to see some Youtube and Google Video clips of him breaking tackles and dazzling the defense with his moves.

Here is a site to learn more about him as person, father, husband, and of course as football player. He was great. He holds many records for the Lions and in the league. And he would have had more had he stayed in the game. I was devastated when he retired after just 10 years in the league. Or click the link below:

We went to the BYU football game as a family yesterday — boy was it cold. And that was just the first half that we went to. We came home and then on TV I noticed that it started to snow (and good downpour at that). Fortunately we didn’t have the kids out in it. They’d have been complaining, but it was fun to see the game and have Oscar and Lily so excited about football. It makes me happy when they enjoy things that I like to do. They are such good kids. We are blessed to have them. They are so excited about the new little baby that will be coming. They talk about him/her all the time. Lily says, “I’m ticking the baby, he, he, he.” Or they say how they want to hold the baby and Oscar said, “I want him to sleep in my bed.” So he could take care of him. They are sweethearts.

Final score – BYU beat Eastern Washington 42-7.
