Oscar had his Primary Sacrament meeting today. He was very excited about it. So much that he called and invited Grandma and Grandpa Scoville to come up and see it. They came to the meeting and saw him perform songs and say his part of the program.
Oscar did a great job with his part and singing the songs. He did seem a little distracted during the program (i.e., making faces and ducking underneath wall on the stand. And one time he came down out of the stands to his seat (his momma walked back up to the stand with him).
Lily enjoyed watching Oscar and the other primary kids singing and performing. It was a very spiritual and good meeting. When it was Oscar’s turn — he was asked the question “Whose life is a perfect example for you to follow?” and Oscar exclaimed loudly, “JESUS!” It was really cute.
Before the meeting, we went to visit our neighbor in the hospital. He’d just had his appendix burst this last week. He is okay but he’ll be at the hospital for a few more days. Reminds me of my days in pain on our trip out here to Utah to look at our condo that we were intending on buying. Ohhh! What a painful experience. Click here if you’d like to read about it. Well after that Marlene went visiting teaching and I was home with the kids. We had a great time and it was over a snack, but we were reading scriptures and Oscar asked, “If Helaman was Satan?” I said no and then we proceeded to have a nice little conversation about our premortal life and the plan of our Heavenly Father (the plan Jesus proposed) and Satan’s plan and how it was important to understand that we had chosen to follow Jesus because we are here and had kept our first estate in heaven to get a physical body.
We talked about our bodies and how it was important to understand how to use them properly and how Heavenly Father wants us to treat ourselves and others nicely. We also talked about agency and how we need to make the choice to follow Jesus Christ; he will not require us to follow him if we don’t choose to to do so.
Oscar and Lily are such amazing examples of faith and love. How I hope that I can return my faith to such as theirs so that I can increase in knowledge and understanding as quickly as they do. They are both so full of questions and they aren’t ashamed to ask. I love them about them, but I also get tired of hearing, Why? and Why that?

We are looking forward to our trip to New York City and Philadelphia in a few weeks for the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies to present our Empirically Supported Treatments for Marriage and Family Therapy.
I am under the gun this week to get my anxiety literature review paper completed. I also would like to have my methods section for my dissertation completed. I need to get both of those papers done. While at the same time completing a new work life and family paper (discussing issues of used and perceived flexibility – such as location, hours worked, when worked, benefits) by the end of this semester. We also have plans to finish the paper on Empirically Supported Treatments. I am also considering writing a paper about my first family therapy experience in low cost medical facility in San Bernardino doing medical family therapy. We’ll see I am awaiting a second response from the journal I would like to write it for.
Marlene has begun writing her novels again (she’s focusing on young adult detective book and been attending a Relief Society Writers Group). They have blog set up to use and review each others work. I am excited to see her writing again – she has such a good time expressing herself that way.
Also my friend Nate and his wife Nicole had their little girl, Kali a few weeks ago. We finally got to see some pictures.
